Grill

Admit it.

Things just taste better cooked on the grill.

OK, time to head home.

Dear Mr. Yarbucks,
In what ways do things taste better on a grill? If you use a gas grill, it's just the same as broiling--grilling uses intense heat from the bottom, and broiling uses intense heat from the top. So there's really no difference, except that you're cooking your food outside. Does outside air add something to the taste of the food somehow? Charcoal grilling might add something to the taste of the food, but that's about it. Maybe grilled food tastes better because it's more fun to cook food that way, not because the food is inherently better tasting. So why are so many guys obsessed with grilling?

Well, I think it tastes better. For example, a couple of weeks ago I cooked some pork chops on the stove in a pan. They were o.k., but kind of dry and tough. Last week I cooked some on the grill and they were moist and delicious. I also like the grill marks and the slightly burnt flavor.

But I also think you're right. It is more fun to cook outside, almost like cooking on an open fire. May be the grill takes men back to their primal instincts.
