Please, no more doing church for 'them'

Ryan Bolger (who is an Emergent guy) seeks to answer the following question over at TheBolgBlog. I think he brings up some great points about being relevant, especially for those who are in or aspiring to ministry in a local church.

...what could possibly be wrong with starting a relevant church service directed to spiritual seekers?

So Chris...

This isn't necessarily a comment on the above post, but it is something interesting. I found your blog from iMonk's recent thread on the SBC, and you said you knew of this mega SB church in Jax, so I had to check it out. Funny how the world really is small. You're good friends with a youth pastor I had years ago named Anh, and a long, long time ago in some galaxy somewhere I actually met you on an Orlando theme Park trip. Anyway, all that to tell you that I am VERY encouraged that others I actually have some knowledge of are beginning to get what God is also showing me: the coming of a missional (emergent?) church solely determined to spend all to reach people for Christ. I'm at FSU now, preparing to be a missionary, and I'm very happy that your own life's journey has brought you to this point. God bless in all you do.

Very cool. Thanks Steve for stopping by. I'll drop you an email. But let me just say by way of comment that I'm still pretty new to the whole "emergent" thing. I've got a lot of reading to do, but haven't had time to do it lately. I can appreciate what these guys are trying to do, but I'm just not sure about how they're going about it. Anyway, more to come on that.
